President of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago, Christine Kangaloo, in her Republic Day message said since assuming office she has encountered significant challenge in getting citizens to step up and share their talents.
In her Republic Day post on the President’s official Facebook page, President Kangaloo indicated that some have doubted their abilities while others hesitated to commit their time and energy to fulfil their duties as citizens, and as architects of our country’s future.
The President while noting that nation building can be an arduous task, called on all citizens to discharge their civic responsibilities with pride and vigilance.
President Kangaloo added that on this Republic Day we all need to re-commit to stepping out of our comfort zones and into a fuller participation in this public affair that is republicanism.
