Privy Council Declines To Fast-Track Hadeed Appeal

The Privy Council has declined to fast-track the appeal involving businessman Dominic Hadeed and his wife, Genevieve.

Reportedly, the Privy Council’s Registrar informed attorneys on Thursday that the Council’s President and Deputy President reviewed the case documents and determined that the matter should not be expedited.

In its communication, the court stated that it did not wish to hear the appeal “in a rush in the last few days of term” and noted that the immediate issue of the couple’s continued detention could be addressed through an application to lift the stay.

The Privy Council added that such an application would be a more convenient way of dealing with the respondents’ detention while the appeal process continues.
