Public Consultations On Constitutional Reform Postponed To Early Next Year

A series of Public Consultations on Constitutional Reform due to start in November has been postponed to early next year.

Prime Minister Dr. Keith Rowley laid a report in the Parliament on Friday relating to a series of pre-consultation Town Meetings held by the Committee on Constitutional Reform towards formulating the terms of reference of the eventual consultation exercise.

The Committee, chaired by former House Speaker Barendra Sinanan SC, held nationwide meetings and produced the report, We The People, on August 2nd. The Prime Minister said on August 8th that Cabinet agreed to extend the life of the Committee to December 31st.
