Minister of Public Utilities, Marvin Gonzales, believes recent protest actions by constituents of Moruga/Tableland, were politically motivated.
Some constituents of the Barrackpore area burned tyres in a fiery protest earlier this week, saying that their community is being neglected.
Minister Gonzales says the Opposition played an active role in the protest and used the protest as a distraction. While the Minister admits that conditions in the constituency are far from ideal, he says the Opposition MPs are well aware of the situation because he keeps them informed.
He says aging infrastructure and leaks make water pressure low in the area. However, he notes that work is being done to remedy all of this and the MPs were part of the discussions for the improvement.
