Sports Watch: Brian Lewis on Matthews and Collett

At the 1972 Olympics in Munich, Germany, Americans Vince Matthews and Wayne Collett won Gold and Silver in the Men’s 400 Metres.

With American Civil Rights movement still fresh in their memory, both men used their position on the podium to send a message about the treatment of Black people in the country they represented and paid the ultimate price. Both men were banned from ever attending future Games but with the efforts of former TTOC President Brian Lewis, that ban was removed by International Olympic Committee.

Kent sat down with Lewis to find out why he took up that fight.
