The Joint Trade Union Movement is expected to meet with Minister of Labour, Small and Micro Enterprise Development, Leroy Baptiste later this month to address outstanding negotiations.
The announcement was made by JTUM President General, Ancel Roget as he addressed May Day celebrations in San Fernando on Friday.
President General of the Joint Trade Union Movement, Ancel Roget, says the labour movement remains committed to safeguarding the interests of workers across the country.
Speaking during May Day celebrations at Harris Promenade in San Fernando on Friday, he noted that while some progress has been made, the fight for workers’ rights continues on multiple fronts.
“And there are many ways to achieve victory. Sometimes its open battles on the battlefield. Sometimes its in the boardroom. Sometimes it is at the workplace. Sometimes it is at the discussion table. At negotiations. And sometimes, like not too long ago, it is forming alliances and agreement in a coalition of interests.”
Mr. Roget also revealed that several trade unions are scheduled to meet with Minister of Labour, Small and Micro Enterprise Development, Leroy Baptiste on May 13th to address outstanding negotiations.
“At that meeting, the following unions will be presenting their once again, their proposals and having discussions as to how we go forward to ensure that all of those negotiations are closed.”
