While the average student encountered challenges in adjusting to virtual learning during the COVID-19 period, students of the Wharton Patrick School seemed to have had a slightly different experience.
This is according to Principal, Suzanne Charles.
The school, founded by Nesta Patrick, which started under a tree at the St. Ann’s Hospital, now has its focus on establishing five SMART classrooms.
Ms. Charles said that the Wharton Patrick School has a lot to be grateful for over the past 65 years. At the school’s Thanksgiving Service held at Christ Church, Cascade on Monday, she ensured that no one was forgotten. From Foundation Members to Past Principals, parents to students, and even the cleaners and watchmen.
Minister in the Ministry of Education, Lisa Morris-Julian, was present to assist in honouring these highly deserving individuals.
Many people have placed Special Needs individuals and institutions in a box, Ms. Charles said. She added the Wharton Patrick School has “jumped out of the box” as it continues to celebrate “A Legacy of Access Beyond Limiting Environments.”
