Minister of Energy and Energy Industries and Minister in the Office of the Prime Minister, Stuart Young, has promised to roll out more technology in agriculture.
Speaking at an Agro Incentive Grant Distribution Ceremony for farmers on Friday afternoon, Minister Young said he would have the responsibility of carrying the nation forward, while emphasising the importance of food security to Trinidad and Tobago.
Minister Young noted that farming and agriculture continue to change “rapidly” due to new technology being developed.
He added that this needs to be incorporated throughout the country, and spoke about technology to monitor soil and crops, leading to greater crop yields.
On Friday, 116 farmers received a total of TT$11.2 million in Agro Incentive Grants. This was the single largest distribution since the programme’s inception.
