TT Regiment, Local Government Councillor Rescue Stranded San Rafael Residents

A number of students and residents found themselves stranded and unable to enter or exit San Rafael on Thursday morning. However, Chairman of the Couva-Tabaquite-Talparo Regional Corporation, Councillor Ryan Rampersad, stepped in to assist.

Mr. Rampersad thanked members of the Trinidad and Tobago Regiment for rendering assistance to the affected students. He also thanked the Member of Parliament for La Horquetta/Talparo, Phillip Watts, and other members of the Regional Corporation for their contributions in helping those affected by the floods.

“The goodly officers who are on duty, and as I am speaking to you, another truck is coming here to relieve this first batch of officers who are touching down at the San Rafael junction to assist the residents of San Rafael and the students. They will be deployed for the entire day, and they will be assisting students to get back home safely a bit later.”
