The Police Service is assuring that it continues to ensure all reports of domestic violence from men are treated with the same manner as those reported from female victims.
Speaking at the TTPS Weekly Media Briefing, Sergeant Larry David from the Gender Based Violence Unit noted that male survivors are often reluctant to report incidents due to fear or embarrassment and inaction. However, Sergeant David assured that members of the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service are equipped and professionally trained to deal with all victims of domestic violence.
Meanwhile ASP Lystra Bridglal from the Gender Based Violence Unit pointed out that women continue to be affected more by domestic violence when compared to men. She said the Unit will be heavily involved in the global ’16 Days of Activism’ against Gender Based Violence to continue to raise awareness.
